  • Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hailed the fitness levels of Thierry Henry.
Henry is on-loan from New York Red Bulls.

Wenger admitted: "Thierry has a top level of attitude.

"He has come back better than I expected — physically. He has a hunger to practise every day and push himself."
  • Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says loan signing Thierry Henry is ready to play a full 90 in the Premier League.
Wenger would not reveal whether Henry would start at Swansea tomorrow.

He said: "He's ready to start. I cannot say what will happen but he can help us win coming off the bench or starting.

"He just wants to help the team win."
  • Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is eager to find himself a new fullback.
Wenger is hopeful that in the next few weeks he will be able to call upon some of those players but does not rule out the possibility of signing a new defender this month.

"At the moment we are exploring potential situations we can take advantage of but there is nothing concrete," the Frenchman said.

"Hopefully the players will come back very quickly now. With Carl Jenkinson we had very good news on his scan and he is starting to practice again, we have Thomas Vermaelen who is the first to come back, Bacary Sagna is evolving well and Santos is doing well too. Let's hope they all come back quickly.

"All over the world we have our eyes and we look for good [players].

"It is very simple in a situation like that. You might take a player who doesn't play at all somewhere, who is not necessarily fit quicker than a player who is injured. Or you take a young, potential player who has not made it somewhere.

"A player who plays anywhere in the world at the moment will not be available on loan, it doesn't exist. It can only be a guy who doesn't play or a promising player who has not yet made it completely who you could take advantage of.

"That is why it is not an easy situation. You have to consider that a guy who has not played for two months is not necessarily back quicker than Bacary Sagna or another player who is just coming back from injury."
  • Arsène Wenger is very happy with the progress of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and has first-team plans for the 18-year-old.
The England Under-21 international has made a big impression since his move from Southampton last summer, scoring on his first two starts at Emirates Stadium in the Carling Cup and the Champions League.

Oxlade-Chamberlain got another run-out in Monday's FA Cup win over Leeds United and Wenger intends to utilise him more as the season unfolds.

"He is very close now and he will be used in the next six months for sure," Wenger told Arsenal Player. "He is working on [his defensive side], his urgency and his committed level as well.

"When you are a young, talented player you have to experience that talent is good, but that commitment at the top level is highly needed too. He is an intelligent boy, he understands that, and I am very happy with him. I am confident that in the next few weeks he will play."
  • Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger regards Tottenham as title contenders.

Wenger concedes that bitter North London rivals Tottenham can win the title this season.

He said: "Why not? Mathematically, they are in a position to do it.

"They have good players. I'm not a Tottenham specialist but they are a good side.

"There's a long way to go and it's still very open."

  • Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists Marouane Chamakh won't be sold this month.

Chamakh has been linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium but Wenger expects his player to return to Arsenal next month.

“He is at the Africa Cup of Nations, nothing will happen there,” the manager said. “Will he come back? Yes.”

  • Patrick Vieira is delighted seeing Thierry Henry back at Arsenal.

Vieira, now football development executive at Manchester City, insists he will not be putting his boots back on.

Vieira 35, said: "I've already turned the page and I'm in a different mind-set now. I'm enjoying my new role at City.

"Henry's goal was beautiful. When he scored, you could see the joy on everyone's faces — that's England for you!

"We spoke, we talked about the times we went through at the club, our best moments. He is on cloud nine, going through an unforgettable period."

  • Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says Arsene Wenger's signing of Thierry Henry was an Arsenal masterstroke.

Ferguson feels the arrival of the New York Red Bulls ace has lifted everyone at the Gunners.

Fergie said: "The fans' reaction was almost as if there's a new messiah arrived. There are no negatives as far as Wenger is concerned.

"OK, he has only got him for six or seven weeks but that six or seven weeks could be the most important for Arsenal's whole season."

  • Arsenal hero Martin Keown is the shock favourite for the Stevenage Borough job.

Borough are searching for a new boss to replace Graham Westley, who quit to join Preston.

Bookies have slashed Arsenal legend Keown's odds on taking over the League One club from 10-1 to 7-2.

Former Bristol Rovers boss Paul Buckle, a Hertfordshire resident, is also a contender.
